It’s a bumper week for British country fans in London this week . Tonight sees Carrie Underwood perform at the Apple Music Festival supported by rising UK duo The Shires and US newcomer Cam . Smoke Break is a good lead-in single to Carrie’s upcoming Storyteller album and , sounding like it’s from a Miranda Lambert album , a relief in that it suggests she’s not gone down the pop/EDM route many predicted . The Shires , as most UK fans know , are by some way the most successful homegrown country act we have ( signed to a major Nashville label , top 10 UK album etc. ) . Hopefully , they’ll eventually achieve similar success across the pond . Cam is new to me , but I’m liking the understated Burning House . All the performances at the festival can viewed through iTunes .
If that wasn’t enough , on Friday night the Zac Brown Band are playing Wembley Arena as part of their Jekyll + Hyde tour . That album , in my opinion , is still the best this year so far and the lack of CMA nominations for the group seems a bit odd . The night before , September 24 , they also perform a special ( sold out ) show for the BBC at Maida Vale studios which will be broadcast on Radio 2 . Quite a week and I can’t attend any of the events due to time , work and distance considerations . Oh well . I hope everybody that does go has a great time .
